What is Writing to you?

Since writing IMMORTAL BEGINNINGS and it being published, I have had quite a few people ask me why I write or what I get out of it. So, I decided to do a little post to explain my feelings on writing.

To some, writing is something they just do. For others it is something they feel. To me, it is like exercise for my brain and food for my soul.

If I am having a bad day and take time to sit down and write...even if it's just 100 words... I feel better, more focused and almost revived. I've heard people talk about writing 'taking so much out of them'... for me it actually refuels me and makes me feel alive!

I love the excitement of creating something from nothing and then being able to escape into that world.

So, it is not something I just do to pass the time. It is not a silly hobby or a waste of time. It is WHO I AM!

Writing is a part of me just like my hands and feet are a part of me. Sure, I could live without writing ever again... but I would not be the same person I am. I would be an empty being.

Writing gives me joy, it gives me a sense of propose and most of all it is my chance to share a gift with the world.

How about you? What is writing for YOU?

  1. I feel sad for people who are tortured artists. I get that it can create great art but I am too lazy to do things that torture me.

Isn't it great to do something that you love and have a wonderful project at the end of the day.

  2. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with writing, but you can only "hate" with passion. So, even on the negative side, there is passion for writing.

  3. I love writing. It is my passion. I discovered it like eons ago. BUT Whenever I decide to start a project, my bad habit knocks me down. I can't even finish something without getting sick. Hmm...
